FREEDOM, POWER and GRACE in Movement!

ATM Class Topic Examples

Improving the Functioning of the Arms

Your arms are connected into the back and the pelvis. Watch a baseball player pitch. That’s an exaggerated movement, but even when playing the piano, the arms need to be connected to the pelvis in order to be free and light. Great workshop for anyone who works on the computer, holds children, paints, has arm pain, etc.

Oiling the Hands and Wrists

If you experience carpal tunnel syndrome or any aches and pains in the fingers and wrists, we will be exploring ways you can alleviate the discomfort and learn new ways of moving your hands. Great for musicians, artists, keyborders, etc.

Rediscovering the Pelvis

The pelvis is the power center of the body. The biggest muscles are in this area (pelvis connected to the legs), as are the biggest bones. Consider feeling centered. The clearer and more organized the center of you is, the easier it is for you to feel at ease and graceful. A definite class for anyone interested in Pilates or weight lifting, runners or those with lower back pain.

C1 – C7, aka the Neck, aka the Top of your Spine

Oh, our poor little necks, out there on their own supporting the weight of our big, heavy heads – NOT TRUE, but often that is how we use them. Mobilizing the rest of the spine and the chest and the sternum (and the pelvis...of course) coordinates the muscles of the neck to the larger muscles in us. Throw out your neck pillow and feel freedom in the spine from the inside out!

Free, Easy, Gliding Shoulders

Do you hold the weight of the world in your shoulders? If you do and you enjoy it, then don’t come to this class. Here you will learn how to lighten your load and free shoulder restrictions and eliminate pain in this area. Great for anyone who plays tennis, golf, or holds tension in this area.

Hips – Keep your Own

Do you ever have hip pain, or sciatica or pain in the sacro-iliac joint? Pain is a red flag letting you know that movement in that (or another) region is not coordinated. As long as you have pain, you can learn to improve how you function. That is the good news! Come learn how the hips joints are wonderful devices for a supple back.

Stand on Your Own 2 Legs

Both literally and figuratively! It is a myth that we need to build up the muscles in our legs. What serves us most is a healthy coordination between the muscles and bones throughout ourselves. Bearing weight through the bones and letting the muscles move us freely is natural. Feel how once the back gets organized, the legs have the easy job.

Flexible Feet and Ankles

If you’ve ever sprained an ankle, injured a toe, had a corn or any sort of proverbial pebble in your shoe, you can appreciate how it can throw off your whole muscular-skeletal system. What is funnier is that once it’s ‘off’, you stop noticing it, and it becomes the way you walk, stand, bear weight, etc. Great workshop for people who like to hike. Lengthening the Hamstrings, once and for all Do you know anyone who says they have long hamstrings? Come and debunk the popular myth of suffering with short hamstrings. Get that idea out of your head and get this workshop onto your calendar.

Healthy Functioning of the Knees

If you’ve ever hurt your knees and asked around or been to a doctor, you may have noticed how many people resort to having knee surgery. Even with the most specialized diagnoses, you may be able to reorganize the pressure and trajectories of force that go through the knees. Often working with the back, chest and legs and ankles, miracles can result in the knees. Good for skiers, gardeners, anybody, everybody.

Mobilizing the Chest

Ah, by now, the 11th month, the secret is out. The less rigid and held that the chest is, the easier it is to do anything else. This workshop focuses on intentionally moving the sternum, ribs, spine, and clavicles in different ways. Feel your tension melt away and your extremities become fluid. Good for everyone in the Western World.

JUST BREATHE ...through the Holidays We will slow down and breathe. It is one of the quickest ways to access an emotional state, for better or worse. Find peace through your breathing. For anyone who breathes...
