Core strength and core stability are very popular topics these days. While it is true that our core (i.e. the muscles of the pelvis, abdomen, lower back and hip joints) is our source of strength, we can only benefit from a strong core if we know how to use it in our daily activities such as walking, computing and driving, not to mention lifting weights (including children), running and other hobbies. Beneficial core stability is achieved through dynamic core mobility – not from immobilizing it. You may have been told differently. Come find out for yourself what feels best (in your neck, back, arms, etc) and affords you maximum flexibility, strength and coordination. Students enjoy an experiential and cognitive understanding of how they move and function most efficiently.
